Welcome!
Patchin' People is a guild
of quilters located in the Inland Empire of the Pacific Northwest.
Members are from the main cities of Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho, and the
surrounding areas.
These two towns are nestled among the Palouse rolling hills of eastern
Washington and
mid-Idaho, and
are noted for being the world's number one producer of
dried peas (think split
pea soup)
and lentils, as well as high yields of wheat and barley.
The background color of our pages reflects the beautiful amber waves of grain we
see in
the summer. The green colored "topics" represent the color
of the crops in
spring.
We are truly surrounded by nature's beauty in this special place.
These two towns are also unique for each having a land-grant college---only
eight miles apart!
Pullman is home to Washington State University and the University of Idaho is
located in Moscow.
The group originally met beginning in the 1970s as friends who got together to share
their love of
quilting, to show their work and discuss ideas. In the mid-1980s a structured organization was
formed.
A name tag design was chosen using "clamshells" to represent our
rolling hills along
with a
stem and sheaf of wheat.
The purpose of the group has always been to further the education, preservation and
enjoyment
of the
quilting arts, as well as community service.
We meet the second Monday of
the months September through May
at 1:00 pm
(December and May are pot-lucks that begin at noon)
at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1015 NE Orchard Dr, Pullman, Washington.
All who are interested in quilting are invited to attend.
Dues are $15 per
year.
If you happen to be in our
area, we invite you to join us for a meeting or an event.
